2024 Skill Set Building Through Structural Biology Summer Program
Dates: Mondays through Thursdays, July 8, 2024 until August 15, 2024
Time: 10am – 2pm
Location: Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, 700 Ellicott Street, Buffalo, NY 14203
Program Information: Our “Skill Set Building Through Structural Biology” program entails having student participants choose a health condition/disease that is relevant or of interest to them in which they learn about the associated proteins involved in this condition. They will conduct research about the structure and properties of the associated proteins and suggest avenues of research that could lead to a cure for the chosen disease – building on a research that has so far resulted in over 30 Nobel laureates including our namesake, Buffalo’s Herbert Hauptman. Throughout the program, students will develop team-building and leadership skills while performing scientific research which will culminate in a presentation to their peers, parents, mentors, and program staff on August 14.
