Undergraduate Summer Internships

SUMMER 2021- June 1st through August 6th

Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute offers undergraduate students the opportunity to work with world-renowned scientists using state-of-the-art equipment in the fields of molecular biology, crystallography, X-ray diffraction, and data analysis.

Students will spend 10 weeks on a research project in our laboratories. They receive training on the fundamental techniques, laboratory practices, and protocols. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in seminars, a scientific presentation skills workshop and will receive scientific career guidance. At the end of the summer, each student gives a short presentation on their research results and will have an opportunity to present at the UB Summer Research Day with other interns from UB and Roswell. An internship at HWI complements other educational experiences and equips students with practical knowledge and skills that are useful in the biomedical workforce.

Our internship program provides an authentic research experience. The hours are full-time, 9 AM-5 PM, 5 days a week, for 10 weeks. The stipend is $500 per week. We do not provide extra funds for travel or housing during the 10-week program.
